Spearhead

Spearhead has been around for the longest of all the Snow Base programs, since 1979. It is for Scouts 13 and older.
  • Scouts and leaders arrive on Friday night, upon which they check-in, meet their guide, and being preparing for the next day.
  • The majority of gear is provided for Scouts, so that there is no need to fear the cold.
  • After an early breakfast on Saturday, Spearhead participants head out onto the trail and spend the next 24 hours outdoors, eating three meals outside, which they cook themselves.
  • Participants can sleep in a variety of shelters—including parachutes or quinzees.
  • Quinzees are shelters made out of piles of snow which have been hollowed out.
