Volunteer

Tomahawk is a big place and we have over 200 structures. We need experienced and skilled people to assist with maintaining our camps. If you are interested in swinging a hammer at camp or even just want to help keep the grass mowed we want your help.

Indicates a project that can be done with only 1 person (Although some could be 2+ if you have a buddy and there is a blank space)

Indicates a project that multiple people need to coordinate a specific date to work together. Someone taking the role of "Project" lead would be helpful.

Indicates a project that only requires 1 weekend to complete. The first person to sign up for these projects will set the date that it gets done

 

 

Vehicle Maintenance*

Install Batteries, Perform Oil Changes, Test Drive/Assess, Perform repairs to found issues (Ex. Brakes, Exaust, Lights, Safety issues..etc)

ATV Maintenance*

Install Batteries, Perform Oil Changes, Test Drive/Assess, Perform repairs to found issues (Ex. Brakes, Exaust, Lights, Safety issues..etc)Minimum 12 machines for Program

Install Admin & Neighbor Docks ** (1)

Install Docks and Boat Lifts at Lavine, Pontiac, Ranger Residence, Jensen House, Family Island. Putting in the boat lifts takes the most people. First person to sign-up sets the date for this to be done.

Roadside and Lawn Cleanup*

Cleanup roads sides and areas that get mowed of debris, plow damages, downed trees, etc..Before the grass starts to grow.

Take Down Snow Fence* (1)

Remove snow fence, roll it up, transport fence and posts to storage before the grass grows.

Campsite Mowing*

Mow Campsites to get ready for campers. Some push mowing, Zero Turn Mowing, Brush Mower (Must by ATV Trained), Weed Whipping. (Some equipment might not be always available. If you have your own please consider bringing it)

Mowing Roadsides and Trails* Mowing roadsides and numerous trails with atv (Must Be ATV trained ), or tractor
Mowing Lawn* Mowing Lawns and Fields throughout camp with the Zero-turn Mower

Building Cleanup*

Going through buildings cleaning up accumulated dust and cobwebs from sitting (Windows, Beams, Eves, Etc…)

Various Small Repairs*

Going around with a list of small needed repairs that have been pointed out during post camp. Determine what it needs to be fixed, Fix it or come back later to fix it after materials are aquired

Preventative maintence tasks*

Perform various preventative maintenance tasks. Lubricate vent fans, check/change light bulbs, etc..

Put out Area Beach Docks**

Help put out Docks at subcamp beaches

Sign Painting*

Remove signs that need painting, keep track of their location, scrape-sand-repaint, reinstall signs when dry

Set up canvas tents**

Put up canvas tents in sub-camps before camp. This is a great project for a troop--lots of knot tying practice. Scales well for large groups.

Gruenhagen Shop Remodel*

Help with variouse aspects of the new Program Shop depending on what stage it is at.

Upstairs admin area Remodel*

Insulate, Install interior carsiding on ceilings and walls. Install doors and trims. Experience with Tongue and Groove is Helpful

WP Shotgun Siding **

Add new siding to shotgun shed that has been chewed

Family Island Roof Redwing**

Strip old shingles and apply new metal roofing. The first blocked weekend is stripping shingles and putting down roofing paper, the second weekend is installing metal roofing. Dates are set unless the weather causes a delay.

Family Island Roof Poskin**

Strip old shingles and apply new metal roofing. The first blocked weekend is stripping shingles and putting down roofing paper, the second weekend is installing metal roofing. Dates are set unless the weather causes a delay

Repair Tent Poles*

Cut and weld new tips on broken tent poles. Must have some welding experience.

Building Painting*

Prep, clean, stain/paint pre-determined buildings at camp

Tree Cutting**

Cut up downed trees throughout camp into splitable chunks . (Must have taken the chainsaw safety training and Must go around with a buddy)

Moving Boats **

Move canoes to racks, put out row boats, kayaks, paddle boards. This is a good project for troops. Experienced sailors could rig sailboats.
